What Is a User-Agent?

A User-Agent (UA) is a string that your browser sends with every HTTP request to identify itself. Web servers use it for browser compatibility, analytics, and content negotiation. The UA contains information about your browser name, version, rendering engine, and operating system.

UA String Structure

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/120.0.0.0 Safari/537.36

Most modern browsers include Mozilla/5.0 for historical compatibility reasons, even though they are not Mozilla Firefox.
